Delicious food and the greatest staff!! We went here to kick off a bachelorette party girls weekend get away. The menu didn't disappoint in any way. We had calamari, chowder, halibut, salmon, and trout.

As far as casual upper end dining goes in Fort Collins, it's tough to beat Fish. It's the spot my family always wants to go back to when they visit. I've had several memorable meals there including a skewered grilled scallop dinner as well as a quick Parmesan trout lunch. the staff are attentive, welcoming, and professional. I recently had a word with one of the chefs personally and he too had a positive effect on the whole experience. if you're worried about being this far inland and finding something to eat that was recently swimming, you can be sure to find refuge at Fish.

Dad & I had a great dinner here last night! We started out with a little chit chat with the waiter, explaining that we were from out-of-town and asking if Dad could get the shrimp po-boy sandwich despite the fact that it was after 8pm and that item was only on the lunch menu. No problem. I read other reviews before coming, and we knew we had to try the clam chowdah. A large order of calamari and a sampler of 4 oysters rounded out our selections. The oysters were cold & fresh. Perfect way to start dinner! Next came the chowdah and we loved it! Some rather hard-crusted bread came about that time, and it was perfect to dip in the soup along side the crackers provided. The presentation of the po-boy sandwich was stunning, with the bright slices of red tomato each next to a bright white slice of onion. The shrimp in the sandwich were so lightly battered and absolutely perfect. We both agreed that these were the best shrimp we'd ever had. (And that's saying something because we have a combined 50 years' experience as Florida-based seafood lovers!) Our only criticism of the po-boy was the bread. It seemed like ciabatta. It tasted just fine, but WOW it was hard!! We both ended up tossing the bottom because it was too hard and just ate it open-faced using the softer top half. A nice hoagie roll or softer sub roll would have been perfect. It came with a nice scoop of slaw and a very generous helping of tasty french fries. The calamari tasted wonderful. Very nice batter, and obviously very fresh. Cooked to tender perfection. Our only complaint here is that, for the $12 "large", the portion seemed pretty small. We enjoyed the decor and the restaurant's set-up. All told, we really enjoyed it. So much so that we'd consider having lunch there today if we weren't heading much further south.

The best Old Fashion's I've ever tasted! Best Oysters and Alaskan King crab found around these parts ...the cherry on top were the waiters Sam and Janna....they made us feel so at home....

Absolutely love this spot. From the outside, it looks like nothing special...incognito really. You would walk right by this place and never know it. You have to know it's there. On the inside, it is also not very festive. Rather plain actually. But then comes the food and it blows you away! Everything from presentation, to taste, to service rivals that of a 5-star restaurant with the expensive decor. You must order the Ahi egg rolls! The fish tastes like it was caught an hour ago. Everything is so fresh. The staff is creative too. They might make you something special that is not on the menu if you ask nicely. Worth every penny!!!!

Delightful seafood in a quiet atmosphere. Save room for the key lime or pecan pie dessert. Excellent service. Definitely will return.

It's hard to describe how pleased I am every time I go to Fish. The casual atmosphere coupled with the passionate wait staff is enough to keep me coming back weekly. However, the quality of ingredients is what shines brightest at Fish. The owners take great care in selecting the freshest and most responsibly sourced seafood available. My only criticism is that on occasion the specials feature beautiful seafood only to be overpowered extravagant preparations that take center stage over the fish.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the tail end of happy hour, and we had excellent entrees as well. Our server was quite good, and we had a lovely "date night".

Never have I had a problem with this restaurant. Food is fresh and well prepared. Mike the owner is friendly and does a great job. Much better than Jax. Here's a tip: sit at the bar.

Being new to Fort Collins, we were looking for a nice place to take our visiting friends for dinner and a birthday celebration. We made reservations for a Sunday evening. I had heard this was a nice, casual place, yet the food was exceptional. Well, I will say what we finally ordered was decent, although hardly exceptional. The main issue was that they didn't have many things they offered on the menu, and one of our requests went 86 while we were there. One of the craft beers was not offered; no smoked salmon flatbread; no mussels----my favorite!; no ahi tuna; no halibut; and the trout ran out. We ended up with oysters, salad, scallops on Cesar, and one trout dinner. Nothing awful, but by the time we had our meal, we had a "bad taste" in our mouth for being disappointed with the lack of selections. So, we will be looking for our next seafood dinner elsewhere, I'm afraid. Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Fish was good but not great. It had the potential to be awesome if the chef can figure out the seasoning and a few of the pairing flavors, some things just didn't work together all that well. Everything was very under seasoned. BUT that being said, everything was cooked perfectly which is hard to do with fish and it tasted fresh, a huge plus in Colorado. I would love to give it a higher rating but until the food seasoning is adjusted, I can't. The calamari, tuna and shrimp were very bland, although tender, which was the tune for everything over the evening. I hope it happens because the atmosphere and service were really good and the food is cooked correctly.

With comparisons to Jax this place is so so. Food is good but not great. Oysters are large but lacked flavor. There wasn't much ambience. We got everything out the happy hour menu, it was acceptable... But in comparison to Jax...was underpar. Since they are right around the block, prices are pretty similar for what you get, I'd just go to Jax.

Excessively priced acceptable sea food. If you're rich or on a diet, and feel ok about leaving hungry, this is a must visit.

  • Emlchach C.

Really fresh fish, but seriously lacks in flavor. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish? I would like to go back at some point to try it again...but that's not exactly a cheap endeavor. So for now my review remains as such: atmosphere 3, food 3.5, potential 5.

The most fantastic fish & chips I've ever had, anywhere.....and also the most expensive! It cost about DOUBLE what fish & chips normally cost, so minus 1 star, but damn if it wasn't good. I was quite surprised to find a seafood spot this good in the midwest. Will definitely come back once in a while as my wallet allows!

What a fantastic seafood place where you might least expect it. I was a little skeptical about seafood in Northern Colorado, but this place was fantastic. We came in around 7 on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was about half full. My fiancee had a Monchong stir fry with mushroom wantons that was amazing. I had Salmon with smoked duck breast and arugula pesto. It sounded like an odd assortment at first, but it paired amazingly well. She got the Kono Sauvignon Blanc and I had their Zin and both paired perfectly. Our server was a delight and the service was very quick. We will definitely be going back !!

Another lovely dinner at Fish last weekend. Welcomed at the door by Cat (Cat and Mike are owners) with all her usual warmth and enthusiasm. Jena of course gave us perfect (and friendly) service. The bar has gotten my drink down pat now so it is perfect every time. We started as we have lately with the ceasar salad because we love the dressing. Oh yeah, of course my husband had to have a cup of the "chowdah". Oh boy is it the best! We (we share everything) had the Salmon from the menu which remains one of our favorites... served over a sweet potato, bacon, etc mixture that is to die for. And because we couldn't decide between the two, we had the key lime pie (amazing) and the chocolate heaven (can't remember what they call it but it is heaven). A delightful dinner of fresh seafood in a very comfortable friendly atmosphere, all at very reasonable cost. Can't beat it. That's why we go back over and over again.

My girlfriend and I were apprehensive about visiting a fish restaurant in Colorado, but were very pleasantly surprised with our visit here. The owner sat us and made us feel very welcome, and the waiter made some very good suggestions about the menu and specials. Our entrees were both fantastic (the diavolo sauce was particularly delicious) and I couldn't resist getting a delicious dessert as well. My girlfriend and I will definitely stop in again, and are very much looking forward to it.

This is destined to become a new regular on our list. We went on a Saturday afternoon, well after lunch and the place was still almost full. We started with the crawfish risotto cakes, which were amazing. Followed up by an oyster po'boy and baked mussels/andouille mac n' cheese. The sandwich was good, the mac n' cheese was fantastic! My only criticism would be the wait time on our order, and our waitress was a little less than attentive. We each ordered a cocktail and were never given an option for another. But the food is excellent!

I had a fabulous dinner here with my new date. The owner was very friendly. Our waitress was very helpful and recommended the wine to have with the fish we ate. I can't wait to return,! We had reservations which is also a plus on a Friday night.

I was in town on business and was looking for a good seafood Resturant to take my mother to since she lives in Denver and was coming up to visit. She said it was the best fried oysters that she has had in years. The atmosphere was great for us to talk and catch up, with great service. The seafood was fresh and I would eat there again the next time I'm in town.

Wow! What a great restaurant. My husband and I came down from Cheyenne to hang out in Fort Collins. We were going to eat at another restaurant, but when we showed up they were closed. So we did a quick search on yelp and saw the high reviews on Fish. The Fish & Chips (Cod) with Fries and Coleslaw were amazing! This is some of the best seafood I've ever had. Great service and great atmosphere. Will definitely return.

We decided to try this place out after reading the incredible reviews on Yelp and through word-of-mouth. So, yesterday evening we visited the location around 8 p.m. The host was off work, so when we first came in we were just standing their, unsure what to do. However, a friendly man came up and explained he was off work (drinking at the bar) but would help us. So, he sat us down and then our waiter came by to explain the specials and take our orders. I had the mussels and the shrimp scampi. 1. The mussels were very tasty, however I ended up becoming extremely ill around 2 a.m. after eating them. I woke up in the middle of the night with the most painful stomach pains - and I won't go into detail. It was clear food poisoning. This continued throughout the next day! 2. The shrimp scampi is over-priced for what you get. The shrimp was not seasoned, instead the skewers were just laid upon the noodles, which were equally non-impressive. I could have made my own from a $1.00 box meal. 3. The wine was good... and it seemed all of the drinks were reasonably priced. That's the plus side of it all. I would like to say this place is a great find - but after spending the night wondering if I would need to go to the hospital, I now just look at the place as a waste of money (my bill was around $40 plus tip). My friend said I should contact the restuarant to complain and request a refund or giftcard. Any advice on how I should handle this? I hate complaining - but I honestly have not felt such terrible stomach cramps as I did after eating the food. (And nothing else I ate during the day would have caused it... I didn't have much of anything else other than a light lunch and breakfast earlier in the day). For as much as I spent, I shouldn't have had the negative experiences, in my opinion. :-( So sad - because I love to support local!

Great experience. I come to Ft Collins often for work but had not yet been here. I had no idea what I wanted walking in but they helped me choose and it was well worth the $$$. The Hurricane oysters were fantastic and the bowl of steamers and mussels were just as good. The staff was very friendly and personable and the atmosphere was laid back enjoyable. Pricey, but well worth it. I will be back.

I had the Ono special and I wish I had taken a picture, it was so beautiful! Sitting on top of a medley of yellow beets, pickled radish and thin slices of granny smith apples, which tasted great together, and complemented the fish perfectly. the Ono dish presented like a bouquet of color. The fish was prepared perfectly, grilled yet moist on the inside. Their wine list is nice as well, not over priced, and always works with fish.

Lets start with what you need to know - TOP NOTCH FISH - properly prepared and served from the nicest, bestest friendliest staff one could ever run into! These people set the standard for good service, and great food. Oh yes, now about dinner - Fabulous shrimp cocktail exquisitely cleaned and delivered. Good local beer selection and server knowledgeable about flavors and types. Incredible scallops - Anet is a scallop junkie (good thing they are legal) and was very pleased with the huge ocean scallops. My swordfish was grilled perfectly and the mango jalapeno marmalade was a nice touch The Tangy key lime pie and the Fabulous flour less chocolate cake were wonderful for the dessert lovers. For me it was a Nice martini Yum! Friendly service - Pristine bathrooms - and Five stars period Oh yes and take a stroll around after dinner - what a nice neighborhood!

This place looked so good on Yelp but I have no idea why. We went for Friday lunch and our experience was not even close to good. I will begin with the food. We ordered po'boy sandwiches and the bread was cardboard although they claimed it was focaccia. So hard to chew. Coleslaw is so gross. Very bitter. We were ignored during our dining experience even though the waitress had only two tables. We started to put our coats on because time we were there for so long we were running late, when she approached us belligerently and told us we couldn't leave without paying. Really???? This was just an awful experience both food wise and the way we were treated. 2 sandwiches and 2 sodas we could not get refilled due to poor service and it was $28. Definitely not a $$ restaurant. It's a $$$$ and not worth it! Good luck reading the menu. It's poorly put together and hard to read which is why we ordered sandwiches.

Sat at the bar and was greeted promptly. The Chowda was spot on...if you can stand your spoon up in it, it's chowda....and this one passed. Good amount of clams in it...fresh cut potato...well done. I ordered the parmesan encrusted cod with a homemade sauce. it was baked perfectly...still moist and flaky. Dessert was a big thumbs up of a flaky apple crisp ala mode. An enjoyable meal experience and a friendly and attentive staff. I will be back.

Another fabulous meal at Fish. We are never disappointed when we choose Fish for a great meal in Old Town. Their menu specials are always creative, with subtle blends of herbs and spices, taking the best from the world cuisines and making it their own. The seafood is flown in fresh and never old or "fishy"--quite the feat in land locked Colorado. We always start with the oysters, a blend of East and West coast, always creamy, buttery and ever so fresh. The clam "chowda" is just the best--smooth and full of clams, never thick and gloppy. We then move on to one of their specials. Last night my husband had swordfish tempura, with quinoa/wasabi/feta rolls on a bed of succulent seaweed greens, all light and delicate. I had the ceviche from the appetizers menu, two types, one sweet with mango, the other spiced chili, beautifully complimentary. We opted out of the key lime pie this time, but if you have room, go for it. They have it made special for their customers. Mike and Kat are the gracious owners who are always happy to guide your selections. This is a hometown local restaurant owned by locals-make it your new favorite. Go for Happy Hour and get $1 oysters. You'll be glad you did.

Not impressed. Server didn't tell us what they were out of when we sat down so we obviously tried to order everything they were out of. Didn't know which if the fish were sustainable! Does anyone care about that anymore? Good wine lost by the glass though and risotto crawfish cakes were good. May go back, not sure..

BEST calamari I've ever had. They literally take generous portions of fresh squid from a case, weigh, batter, and fry it up to order. We had other seafood items but the calamari was the favorite by far. Major points for the freshness of the seafood, especially in landlocked Colorado. Twice I came here and they had a sad looking fern placed on a barstool next to the table...? There are also fishing nets and and painted styrofoam fish hanging from the ceiling; the ambiance/decor could use some help---then again, because the food is so good, you shouldn't be spending to much time looking at the what's hanging from the ceiling.

This is a Fort Collins favorite for me! We love Fish, and love supporting this local gem. This is the first place I always recommend to people who like seafood. The staff is great, particularly Kat. I am always very impressed with how well they treat my son, as a parent I can't overstate how much I value this. Food has been great every time we go. Diablo pasta with scallops is a favorite, can be very spicy so I ask for them to do medium heat and they always get it right. Eat local and support this wonderful restaurant.

We had an early dinner here and happy hour was still in play. I was starving. We started with a dozen oysters which were only a dollar a piece. Kumamoto oysters were $2 a piece and we ordered some of these as well. Also, some wines on their list were half off. We ordered a bottle of French sauvignon blanc, and decided to order another bottle since it was lovely -- dry and crisp. I can always eat oysters and this was no exception. They had 5 types tonight, and they were all fresh. The Chesapeakes were sandy, and my least favorite. Hama Hamas were my favorites of the evening -- briny and cucumbery in flavor. Oysters did not come with a mignonette which is how I normally like to have raw oysters, but they did provide a habanero and peach hot sauce which was yummy. Like most hot sauces, the acidity worked well with oysters. I ordered the grilled shrimp with a yellow curry dipping sauce. Shrimps were perfectly cooked and had a nice sear on one side. I asked for an extra spicy curry, but it was pretty mild. My meal also came with a Caesar salad. I had two orders of asparagus for my sides. I was shocked at how reasonable our bill was for three people that included two bottles of wine. We definitely cannot get the same value in Los Angeles.

Ahoy, waiting be a harsh mistress but de fish be worth it. We stoped by on a frist friday evening, and put our name in, the hour plus wait did not phase us as we were quite full from touring the local breweries. We started our meal with some Ahi Egg Rolls. To my surprise the fish inside was nice and rare, the cabbage crisp and the outside was crisp and light. The white wasabi esqe dressing was a excellent compliment to this appetizer. Going on the success of that Ahi I ordered the sesame crusted ahi with couscous and fries. The cut of Ahi was a bit thin, but it was nice and rare. The sesame seeds made a trust crust and were nice roasted to give a huge punch of flavor. It sat on a soy ponzu sauce that enhanced the umamai of the dish. I would recommend it. My friends got the Wahoo, which was nice as well. Another got the Halibut, which had an amazing sauce on it. This is the small fish place that every town needs. If you are in Ft Collins stop in here for a nice fish dinner.

I like the atmosphere of Fish. The service is very spot on because the staff will go out of their way for you. It's a little cramp though. The last time my husband and I dined here, our food took a very long time to come out and the hostess/owner comp-ed our appetizer. It was very nice of her because we didn't even mind. The food, however, has it's high and low points. I think the appetizers are generally pretty tasty and unique. The rest of the menu is unique as they have specials all the time but the taste and flavor and texture of some dishes (last time it was the soggy vermicelli noodles) can ruin your meal.

One of the best restaurants in Ft. Collins! After many years of eating here I continue returning. The food and service wows me every time. We were lucky enough to have Dirk this time and once again he was at the top of his game. I highly recommend this place. It has the best seafood in town. Can't wait to go back..... Enjoy!!!!

I must say, Fish has really stepped it up. Don't get me wrong, they have always had great quality fish, perfectly prepared. However, I've encountered really uneven service here in the past, and while they've always known how to perfectly cook their fish, they haven't always had the most imaginative preparations ... there just wasn't anything special enough to get me excited about coming here, and in fact it has been well over a year (if not years) since I last visited. On a recent Friday night I made some last-minute plans to have dinner with a friend that was going to be in town ... and to be honest, we walked-in here because Jax's was totally booked. I'm so glad we did! For starters, we were seated about 5 minutes before happy hour ended ... but since we were seated during happy hour they'd honor happy hour prices for us. Why yes, as a matter of fact, I think I _will_ have some oysters on the half shell ... Kumamotos weren't among their happy hour offerings, but I tried a variety and would say that the Hama Hamas from Washington state were almost as good. They've also started doing some monthly specials that, I hope, will be where they go a bit on the wild side with more creative offerings. I tried the Moroccan tagine with monkfish. While I am by no means an expert on north African cuisine I appreciated the opportunity to try something very different and really enjoyed the assertive flavors -- the bright acidity from preserved lemons and tomatoes, the brininess from black olives, the lobster-like texture of the monkfish, the ample serving of couscous that turned this into two meals for me since there was no way I was going to finish it all in one sitting. I think I enjoyed it even more the next day, as all of those flavors had a chance to meld together in a most pleasing way. Oh, and the service -- wow what a difference. A very pleasant hostess that seated us, and followed-up at every table as diners were finishing up their meals. An awesome waiter, with spot-on recommendations. It will NOT take me a year to come back!

We were shocked at HOW good this place was! I'm glad I followed my fellow Yelpers. We had made a reservation, showed up about 5 minutes late... and they didn't seat us for another 30+ minutes. So do not go here if you're in a rush. We hung out at the bar, ordered a Yealand & calamari. Calamari was fresh & the chipotle aioli was nice & tangy. The two bartenders were interesting... but very informative & helped determine our meals. The atmosphere was a bit confusing to me... but my boyfriend liked it. They're trying to go for a Cape Cod vibe... but it was almost like they gave up decorating? A small touch up would go a long way for this place. Despite being seated late, we were seated & immediately ordered. The salad & bread came out within 20 minutes. The bread was served with chive butter -- REALLY unique but very tasty! The house salad was nothing special, but apparently the caesar salad was the best my boyfriend had had. It was like an oil based dressing. I ordered the shrimp scampi - LOTS of shrimp, LOTS of garlic, and buttery, oily goodness. The salmon mojo was great as well. It was served on hash of sweet potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash & some other veggies... and the dry BBQ rub was yummy too. We will most definitely be going back!

We come here every month or so. Usually order the inventive nightly specials. The brown butter fish dish from last fall and the sweet rainbow fish are still memorable. If not ordering a special my other faves are the scallops in diablo cream sauce or mixed grilled shrimp & scallops with peanut sate. The specials the other night were phenomenal! The blackened catfish was melt in my mouth delicious over scalloped potatoes and topped with caramelized onions and peppers. I only had a few bites before tucking into my homemade crab ravioli with spinach, dried cherries and pine nuts topped with a delicate red pepper sauce. It was a perfect flavor meld when all tasted together and probably the best spinach I've ever tasted. They have always given back to the local community with fundraisers. I attended my first one there for the restaurant's 10th Anniversary in honor of a woman who survived a brutal attempted murder and assault after watching fireworks in City Park on July 4, 2011. Lydia Tillman worked as a wine rep and Fish was one of her stops. The Silent Auction (thanks to many local businesses), the staff donated time AND tips, along with the money raised from the dinner, Fish generously gave over $10,000 to help Lydia pay medical bills and start to get her life back in order. It was a magical evening that shows the power of a community coming together to break bread and lift a glass for one of our own.

Fish continues to meet our expectations of high quality seafood in a laid back atmosphere. We started with the oysters on the half shell happy hour special. We followed this with the cod fish and chips (always fried perfectly), a cioppino soup, and a shrimp curry (the fish was cooked perfectly though the seasoning wasn't bold enough for our tastes). We had an excellent warmed flourless chocolate cake for dessert. The service was warm and the restaurant is very comfortable for kids.

Dined @ Fish first time last night and everything was superb. Onaga special was perfectly grilled and served w/ a delightful arugala salad. Just exactly right on a summer evening. The waiter was attentive and friendly. We loved this place and will definately be back!

Warm, fun atmosphere! You can draw with crayons on the table, and out waitress told us that they had a wall full of art they save from the tables. So cute! The food was decent. The fried calamari was good, not too rubbery, nice and light. I got the grilled bojo salmon, which was cooked well but the fish itself lacked flavor (although the sweet potato-bacon hash it was on was very good!). We also ordered the shrimp tacos, blackened style, and those were good but not enough for four stars. Tortillas and sauce were nothing special. Good, but not spectacular. It was pricey, but they seem to do as much locally as possible, which is a bonus!

A horrible experience. I haven't been here for a few years and I will not be back. It was one of the worse dining experiences I have ever had. The food was so-so, but the real issue was the staff. There was an argument between two of the waiters that was happening right by us at the food pick up area. One grabbed the wrong meal and gave it to someone else, the other was angry about it. Instead of quitely handling it, they were yelling at each other. The one guy took the half eaten dish away from the patron, took it back to the counter and then they had to make two new dishes, which caused both parties to have to wait quite awhile for their food. Stuff happens and I understand that but the way that they dealt with it was not professional and that alone will keep me from coming back.

I live in Denver, but my date and I were checking out a show at Lincoln Center Sunday night and wanted to grab a bite while in Fort Collins. A girlfriend who lives in Fort Collins told us this was her favorite place to eat. It has good potential, but our experience was not awesome. The menu was already limited, and the server notified us they were also out of tuna and grouper, which is what we both wanted to order. The only other fish entree options were salmon and trout. I checked the menu today and that fact still holds true. I ordered shrimp tacos and my date ordered fried rockfish and chips (it was $10 less than the fried halibut, which they also did not have). The shrimp tacos were BORING and bland. Not recommended. The fried fish was good, but it takes a lot to screw up fried fish in my opinion. I did see someone eating a shrimp and scallop dish that looked tasty and I wish I would have ordered that. The real kicker was it took 45 minutes to get our food. Service, in general, was super slow. The people next to us even complained about the wait and the server honestly did not handle the situation well. Both tables (them and us, were out of drinks, too). After the complaint we all thankfully got drink refills. If I were to go again, it would be on the day they receive their fish shipment so I actually have fish options, and I also would not be in any hurry to get to a show. Finally, I think this place should be called Shrimp rather than Fish; they have more shrimp (and scallops/lobster/crab) options than fish on the menu. I am a dork and counted the options on the menu today: Fish 3; Shrimp 5.

I've enjoyed excellent seafood on both coasts and none have equaled the totality of Fish! The owners, the servers, the environment, the attitudes and the cuisine are ALL absolutely superb. Yes, they ran out of two options for dinner, but that just means they only order and serve the freshest available. Amazing. And they treated my grandson (6) so wonderfully, he will always want to go back to Fish.

The entrees weren't bad - we got shrimp and scallops penne, and the salmon. We did wait forever to get our food, and it was all overcooked. Our drinks were almost always empty and the server wasn't terribly friendly. The price is not worth the food and service.

My girlfriend and I had a good experience here. They had a variety of oysters and let me try one of each as my appetizer, which was pretty cool. The sides and the fish were good, as expected, but the king crab legs were great! Really really good, if you go there, try them and you will not be disappointed.

I went to Fish today for lunch with mom and my son. When we arrived we were offered bread with an herbed butter, that was frankly quite odd. The butter had scallions in it and that made it crunchy. I was not the biggest fan. The bread itself was great. For lunch my son and I split fish & chips (cod) and a bowl of clam chowder. The chowder was late arriving and only came in a cup, but it was the best part of my meal. It was creamy and had decent sized bits of clam and was hearty and filling. The cod, on the other hand, was under-seasoned, over-battered, and overcooked. It was dry and flavorless. I put two doses of salt on the fish, but you cannot save under-seasoned fried fish by applying salt after the fact. I followed up with two doses of malt vinegar and then just gave up and ate it because I was hungry. The fries that came with it were fine and well seasoned in comparison, but they were just fries. My mom ordered the fish stew and a salad. The stew was complex and spicy. It's tomato based and very tasty. In retrospect I should have ordered one of the specials. I will be going back to do so, to try something more complex, but I just don't get how you can underseason battered cod.

One of the best, if not the best, restaurants in town. Definitely get the mussels diablo - spicy and delicious. They have great/quirky servers. Make a reservation to be sure to get a table at night. The dining room is small and can fill up fast. Definitely worth the extra effort tho.

One of my favorite Fort Collins restaurants! The staff is always super friendly, the service is excellent and I never cease to be amazed by their creative dishes. Every time we visit I swear I'm going to order off their regular menu and without fail I end up being enticed by their specials. I also enjoy the chill atmosphere. I would highly recommend a visit to fish!

Excellent in every way. Amazingly creative dishes you will not find anywhere else and a vibe that is super welcoming, The owners and team clearly love what they do and want to make sure every customer has a fabulous experience. Wish I was from the area so I could frequent this restuarant.....highly recommend you go enjoy this place.

I was on a business trip from NYC. This place was near my hotel and had good reviews on Yelp, so I gave it a try. I went on a Monday night. The bar was full and the tables about 1/3 full. I was seated right away and offered the Happy Hour special (drinks and oysters), even though Happy Hour was going to end in five minutes. Very kind. My server was perky and friendly. I asked for a recommendation and she talked me through the menu. I ended up getting one of the specials and it was delicious. Entree is served with a salad and two sides (I had beans and sweet potatoes), so no need for an appetizer of any kind. They have crayons on the table, so you can draw on the paper tablecloths if you so desire. I was disappointed that she didn't offer me dessert, as the table next to me ordered and it looked good, but I decided that I didn't need it anyway and took the bill. She did give me a free refill on my soda, which I appreciated. Service was prompt and friendly. I would go back.

When all is said and done in life, the only thing that really matters are the relationships we've built over time. We can spend hours of focus on building a career or reaching milestone achievements - but none of it means anything unless we have people to share it with. Relationships put the soul into our day-to-day living. Naturally, restaurant dining is a social event. We tend to have meetings over lunch, spend quality one-on-one time with a loved one, or catch up with a friend over coffee. Even if you are dining alone, there are social pleasantries with the restaurant staff. It's partly why dining out is a favorite past time of ours here in Fort Collins. We eat to live and live to eat - and we always love sharing that experience with one another. In my years of writing reviews on this blog, there are very few moments where I've felt that deep level of relationship building from a dining experience that comes from the restaurant itself. I can name a few places off the top of my head where service was outstanding, where everyone smiled and it was a picturesque dining experience. But here at Fish Restaurant, I felt - and witnessed - an extraordinarily authentic community connection unlike any other restaurant in the city. Fish Restaurant isn't only a restaurant, but also a seafood market. There is a display to purchase fish, and a lobster tank by the front door. You can create your own dish if you're not keen on any of the menu items (but I would find that hard to believe), and a few friends of mine often have their server surprise them with on the fly creations. I left Fish Restaurant wishing that I wasn't a restaurant citric. One of the downsides is that I'm rarely able to return to a favorite place on a remotely regular basis. I was saddened by the fact that I would never be able to become a regular here, when I desperately wanted to be. If I didn't have to eat my way through the city, Fish would be one of my hangouts. By the comfortable welcoming we received, the friendly conversations with neighboring table strangers, the sassy service, and always most importantly - the incredibly flavorful food - Fish knows what Fort Collins is looking for. They know both food and people. They know genuine community connection. They know how to build relationships over savory sauces. They put the soul into day-to-day restaurant dining.

Good! they gave us free champgne on new years eve because why not?. On top of that Fish knows how to do Fish. The prices are a little bit more than other establishments, however the quality of selection and preparation at FIsh is worth it. The Interior is well lite yet spacious. Overall it is a good addition to the Fort Collins culinary scene.

Bit of a mixed bag first experience but the end result was sooooo good and the service was so outstanding that I had to at least give a 4. Downside - they brought out the wrong steamers (mussels v. clams) and ran out of the swordfish special by 7 PM on a Friday. Owner made good by not charging us for the mussels, brought out the clams(which we did rightly pay for) and there was no charge at all when Mrs. had to swap out the swordfish for trout. Meal itself was beautifully prepared, service impeccable, ownership responsive to first time customer crises. We'll be back but puh-leeze learn how to order for a Friday night.

Extremely yummy! The bread was good, the oysters were fresh and came with several sauces that complimented them well. The pasta plates were good and flavorful!! Best of all, the waitress knew her shit on every question we asked. It was a good experience.

Fish is one of the better seafood restaurants in this region of the country; I haven't had better seafood in Colorado. I went in with a few ideas of what I wanted but not the exact dish. I sat at the bar and the bartender/fishmonger/waiter helped me decide on a few options, basically putting together a number of appetizers to get everything I wanted. His recommendations were fantastic, the first to come was mussels and shrimp in a Cuban hot garlic sauce. The sauce was perfect, a bit of heat from the fresh chilies and chili oil, it complimented the garlic and cilantro nicely. The mussels were perfectly steamed, delicious, and meticulously cleaned. Next up was the Scallops with five spice. The sear was perfect, the scallops were so sweet that the plum sauce almost made it feel like a dessert. My last treat was possibly the best. The Ahi Egg Rolls were as good it gets. There's not much more I can say about them. All in all I'll be back again. I couldn't believe I was in Northern Colorado, I could have been in SF or Seattle with the freshness of the fish. The staff was knowledgeable, with good recommendations and friendly service. The bill was far from what I expected, very reasonable for the quality. I'll be back.

Food? Delicious. Ambiance? Lacking. If you really enjoy fish taxidermy, then you'll love it. If you expected a semi-classy environment (by Fort Collins standards, that is), you might be disappointed. I just feel like the whole restaurant needs a makeover. The area behind the bar is cluttered with knick-knacks that are an eye-sore. Perhaps they're super sentimental to the owners and employees, but it just seems too busy to me. But again, no complaints about the food. Here, they get it very right.

I like their lunch menue especially the fish n chips. The atmosphere could use some help. Last time I was there I orderd oysters and was dissapointed, the oysters weren't shucked properly as they were still attached to the shell. I ordered the special of the night, it was blah, no flavor at all. I was very dissapointed. Now I head around the corner to Jax, they have raised the bar for seafood for sure!

I don't like eating seafood or fish but i took my girlfriend here as she loves it. I had a great time and tried many new dishes, the ahi tuna rolls were great, had the scallops, a nice whie fish that wasn't at all fishy! and a few other bits i forget about, service was good. we tried a nottle of wine off the specials and didn't like it, they replaced if at no cot with a different bottle of our choice, a first class experience, highly recommended

I've traveled extensively and eaten fish all over the country in great spots. Fish is by far the best seafood in northern Colorado and possibly the entire state. From the freshness of the fish, to the complexity of the menu and specials, to incredible service rhis place is a wonderful experience. Thank you to the owners who personally introduces themselves (Kay and Mike) you should be proud. People in the food service industry should visit and takes notes.

Something fishy is going on here... My first thought when I moved to Fort Collins from Seattle was, "Man, I'm gonna miss seafood." So I was pleasantly surprised when I found this hidden gem in Old Town. One Saturday evening two of my friends and I decided to go on a "one guy, two girls" non-date. We were greeted promptly and seated at a table. Once our order was taken we were brought the bread basket. The spread they provided was some sort of sun-dried tomato and basil and it was delicious. Our apps were brought fairly quickly. My friend feasted on oysters on the half shell while I enjoyed my fried calamari. The main dishes were brought out soon after and I can honestly say I have no memory of what my friends ordered...that's because my meal was so BAHM that I was in my own little world. The shrimp and scallops in butter and wine white (minus the white wine) sauce is what I had decided on. The shrimp was cooked to perfection as well as the scallops that ended up being as big as my fist. Ok, well maybe I'm exaggerating but they were humongous. As far as bringing a large party, the space is some what small and even though I'm sure they could accommodate a large party I would not recommend it. Definitely a great place for a date. The fat girl has spoken!

I been dreamin bout dat po boy, rude boy. Could do without all the hipsters that work here but I guess even people who like The Fall ironically need to eat. The calamari isn't anything special but I always leave here full of some good ectothermic animal.

The bottom line: First time in Fort Collins and hard pressed to find anything besides a pub or grill... fresh Fish hit the spot. For variety's sake, I'd probably go-Fish weekly if I lived here. (3.5 stars). Total tab- light meal for two=$54. The service was attentive and friendly from the get-go. The atmosphere was eclectic and curious. (Ropes of Xmas lights, papier mache fish mobiles, crayons and Billy Joel music). the good -tasty ahi egg roll with a spicy sauce kick -perfectly cooked simple parmesan rainbow trout with vegie medley the mediocre -seafood stew needed more critters and flavor the solid -sav. blanc and pinot grigio

Was looking forward to Fish due to its reviews. The service and environment were great. However the food was just good. Perhaps it is because I am from the coast and get fresh, local fish so am used to great seafood. I would recommend a try, maybe we hit an off day.

We moved to Colorado from Boston and have been trying all the restaurants in town. I was very happy to find a good seafood place in town. We've been to Fish several times and we've had several items off the regular menu as well as some of the specials. All have been very good. The portions are not too big, not too small, and the sauces are very well done, not hiding the flavor of the seafood, but complementing it. We'll be making this a regular stop.

I used to eat at Fish about 3 times a week, usually by myself because it was a nice, clean, quiet place for me to enjoy a good meal and try different wines. The owner was very nice and even sold me a bunch of live crawfish he'd ordered for someone that ended up backing out. I was born in Louisiana so I knew what to do with 45lbs of live crawfish. I am always eager to return when I visit Fort Collins.

There is something strange about a great seafood restaurant being tucked away in Northern Colorado, but hey, I'll take it! Its a small restaurant, clearly focused on seafood in a relatively quiet part of old town. Since it is small, it fills up quick on Fridays and Saturdays. They do take reservations, though. The menu is diverse, and features a wide range of fish, prepared many different ways. Somethings I like about the menu.... it's big but a fun read. Second, I like the "market option". Pay market price for your fish -- how much do you want and how you want it cooked, as well as two sides. It's market price + $9. Nice. Third, the menu reminds you that while there is some debate over which fish are endangered, they make clear they do not serve fish that is endangered. The food quality is great. Had raw oysters ($1.50 per oyster, so you can scale up or down as you need), an ahi roll, and a wonderful grilled shrimp and scallop dish done with red thai curry sauce. Yum! Wines are not name-brand, but suprisingly good for the money. And, the tablecloth - such as it is - is butcher paper, with crayons on each table. So if your conversation isn't entertaining, you can entertain yourself drawing whatever you like! I cannot think of a better seafood restaurant in all of Colorado.

Let me first say: I've never written a bad review in my life! But this was worth mentioning to others........ Maybe it was an off-night. We had reservations on a Monday night (Aug 19) for my birthday, but we stood at the front of the restaurant for 5 minutes watching everyone behind the service counter ignore us. One of them actually came out from behind the bar and walked right past us to go outside and talk to someone......very awkward. Finally, we were seated. But that's it. She basically said "pick a table and we'll be right there." And she walked away. During the next 10 minutes (with my husband and 2 little boys), we did get water...but no one asked if we wanted drinks from the bar or anything! And they were not very busy at all. We were next to the cook's counter, so we watched as they put up a delicious-looking plate of food and called the female waitress to come and get it. She continued to clear a table as the beautiful food sat there for another 5 minutes. She was supposed to be our waitress too, it seemed she didn't have her priorities in order. The male waiter noticed we were getting antsy and came to take our drink and appetizer order. He seemed to be doing what he could to cover for her. We gave him our drink order and ordered some steamers, but at this point....we were feeling like this night wasn't going to go well. After another 5 minutes, watching her do everything except pour our drinks.....I got up and told her and the male waiter that we were leaving. I was polite, not angry. I felt uncomfortable, but I'm not one to be mean to people. I just said, "We've been here for 20 minutes and we don't even have our drinks yet, so we're going to leave." They both looked very angry and as we were walking out, the female waitress yelled "SEE YA!!!" Very embarrassing. We walked across the street into J's Bistro. They seated us immediately, served us drinks within minutes and brought the bread basket out right away since our kids were clearly hungry.......treated us like royalty. It was night & day from our experience across the street. (And menu pricing is pretty similar). I had a wonderful Birthday dinner at J's Bistro.

I will preface this with the fact that I have only been here one time in Sept 2010 - but I don't want to go back to see if my opinion would change. This is by far NOT the best, or even top 5, restaurant in Fort Collins. We went on a Saturday night at 8pm to take out family that was in town, and we were hoping for a nice restaurant with excellent seafood. The restaurant is very small, and we were sat at a table draped in paper near the galley/bathrooms. The wine was excellent and very well priced - big win there. Unfortunately, we opened the wine before our server (who looked like he just walked off the golf course) decided to inform us they were Out of Halibut, scallops, trout, Dungeness crab . . . pretty much everything on the menu except Tuna and soft-shelled crabs. Keep in mind this is prime dinner time - and they are out of every special but tuna . . . and didn't tell us before we ordered drinks. This would have been good to know considering we were interested in only those items they were out of. We were told "it was the nature of the beast" for eating fresh seafood ... The good: the fish we did get (fried cod) was tasty and fresh, the seaweed salad was great and the wine was great. The bad: The chowder was watery and not appetizing at all, the soft-shelled crabs were very small with little meat - I have had WAY better, the house salad was small and unimpressive, the Caesar salad was not good, the server was a dick, and we got charged a $4 surcharge on our Fish n Chips for "Halibut" - even though they were out! Apparently they consider Cod and Halibut to be the same when they are tacking on surcharges, but if you go to any proper fish market Cod is about half the price. . . we paid the surcharge, but did not appreciate it given the situation. If you are looking for a nice restaurant with great service and excellent food - go to Jay's Bistro next door.

This is one of the best seafood restaurants I have eaten at (particularly for the price). The Ahi Egg Rolls were amazing and the corvina special was prepared very well. They bartender actually pulls a fresh whole fish out of the cooler and slices a large chunk off to hand back to the kitchen for each order. As someone who lives near the coast I have high standards for fresh fish and this place exceeded them handily. The waitstaff was also very helpful and friendly. They have fine dining quality food in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.

When we moved to Fort Collins, we never thought we would get good, fresh seafood. Boy, were we wrong! Fish on Oak St, has not let us down yet. We have been going there since 2008, and it has been consistently excellent. The fish is always cooked to perfection, never over done. Happy hour is a great deal especially for the oysters and wine. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The owners have kept the atmosphere comfortable and fun. Their motto is "Fish so fresh, someone might get slapped!" I love it! They also have a fish market in the restaurant and if you don't see what you want there, they can get it. We have special ordered items for sushi parties and have had it in a couple of days and fresh! We spend a lot of time in Alaska and Hawaii and put "Fish" right up there as far as delivering a fresh product. Definitely check out this restaurant, it's not fancy, but I think it is the best seafood in Northern Colorado.

To put this review in context, we live 15 minutes from the Pacific Ocean and some spectacularly fresh and well-prepared seafood. Our seafood bar is pretty high. We first tried this restaurant on a trip to FoCo to see if the fish was indeed as high-quality as claimed. After the first trip, we believed it was, so we came back to see if other preparations were as well done as the first. They were. Fish does what I think so many "seafood" restaurants fail to do. It successfully adds wonderful layers of flavor to a "preparation sensitive" product without overpowering or overcooking the main element - the fish (or, shellfish). We have now tried the seafood chowdah, the scallops (2 ways), walleye (over a light stir fry) and halibut (with lemon butter). In all cases, the texture and flavor of the seafood came out clearly over the seasonings and sauces, and I think that's hard to do when working with curry and thai chili. As important, NONE of the preparations came out overcooked or dried. Wine selections are very nice for the food offerings. Not a big list, but a good range of styles that match well. The Tyee (Pinot and Gewurtz) and Morgan (Syrah) were good choices at reasonable prices. The only weak point we found might be the salads. They were passable, not particularly interesting (or green). Go for the soup instead. A comment on some notes I read below. We have also encountered the dreaded "86", crossing out "exactly the dish I wanted" from the board. That's the downside of fresh seafood at a mid-continent restaurant. They only get in so much in at a time. When we ran into this, we asked the kitchen to substitute an available protein with one of the day's special-board preparations and they were most happy to make the swap for us. Fish seems to WANT you to leave pleased with your meal. Highly recommended and on our "will return" list.

Have you ever ruined the perfect dining experience? Like making a total idiot of your self? (show of hands). Hey! I know I'm not the only one! Yes, I managed to mess up a perfectly divine lunch at Fish. This great little spot in Fort Collins showcases (literally) the freshest fish. Walking in, the lobster tank is at the front door, and the fresh fish case a few steps from that. The specials of the day are displayed next to that, based on what is fresh that day. I don't remember the last time I've ordered off the menu there...the board specials are always spot on. Which isn't to say I haven't sampled pasta dishes with their glorious diablo sauce...Definitely in the NOM NOM category! I stopped in on a whim last week for lunch and ordered a half dozen oysters. The Hurricane Harbors were wonderful (I did get a little bits of shell in one of them, but hey, it happens). This time, I ordered a seared scallop spinach salad with sun dried tomato pesto and balsamic vinegar. This. Was. Very. Good. The greens were crisp, the pesto had a wonderful flavor, and the huge scallops were grilled Just Right. Obviously fresh, they were seared on the outside and the sweet inside was just a skosh transparent. Not overcooked as is the case so often. I grinned with every bite. I paid my bill, and sauntered out, feeling very good, like a nice meal should. Until I heard someone calling me from behind...my waiter. Seems I had shorted my bill, and he was coming after me with my ticket. I had pulled the wrong president from my wallet. Simply horrified, I quickly corrected the situation. He was very polite and understanding, but I was so mortified that I may have to wait to go back. Though, the call of fresh fish will probably overcome my embarrassment sooner than later ;)

Really the only choice for very good seafood in Fort Collins. Last time in, I had the Halibut (again) and my wife had the king crab. We started with PEI mussels in a white wine, garlic and lemon sauce. Just a superb meal. Pretty good wine list with very reasonable prices. I also should mention that the service is always excellent.

Stopped in for an early, light dinner while visiting town. Happy hour oysters - great Fisherman's stew - great Swordfish special with fries and coleslaw - great. Enjoyed the energy and laid back atmosphere here. Would love to come back if we're in the area.

So disappointed here. I wish it were possible to give a review on each point as they did some things very well. But I can't overlook the multitude of mis-steps. I'd heard that they have very fresh seafood and read several positive reviews. I've also heard good things from people we know. The server and hostess that we encountered were very strange. Meatsauce, the server had very "off" timing. He hovered but didn't say anything, when he did speak, it was just weird. Generally decent attentiveness, nothing to brag about, but he was doing a good job keeping up and timed his service well. Now to the food. Appetizer: Seafood Ceviche Tasty, but 0 seasoning. We're not salt addicts and generally never add salt to anything at restaurants. There was no seasoning in anything. If there was anything, it was barely discernable. Salad: Garden salad with some chili dressing Again, 0 seasoning. Entree 1: Seafood Risotto. First, it was huge, not that big a deal, but seemed odd in relation to every other plate. The big faux pax here was, yes, I've said this before...it wasn't risotto. Restaurants in the area need to go to Domenics and have their risotto if they want to learn what risotto is. Risotto doesn't just mean mix a few vegetables and proteins with rice. It's supposed to have a semi-homogenized, creamed feel to it without needing to use cream. It was just rice. Serious disappointment Entree 2: Haddock Fish and Chips (though I ordered rice). Crispy, light texture...flakey fish. 0 seasoning. Salt your "fry" when it comes out of the fryer...it's not hard...you don't have to douse it, just hit it once...it'll have some taste. Very serious disappointment. The rice was a mistake, there were about 1/5 of the grains completely uncooked (translucent and hard). I felt like I broke a tooth it was so brittle. I never bring up problems to wait staff. I mentioned it to him and he acknowledged it as if to say, "yup, we get this all the time" He then proceeded to yell back to the cooks in the back, "RICE IS HARD" seeming very irritated; more so with the line cooks. One very huge praise is the quality of ingredients. It's obvious they take a lot of pride in sourcing good food. All the vegetables and fish were of outstanding quality. It's a shame they ruined it with poor execution. If it weren't so expensive (and understandably so for such quality ingredients) we'd take a chance on them again. Just not going to drop another $90 for poor preparation and eccentric staff. By the way, if not for the quality of ingredients, this would have been a 1 star.

Great people. Amazing fish. Good wine selection. Special orders. Saw an ad in the Fort Collins tourist mag that said their fish was "So fresh, someone might get slapped!". Odd, but funny. We decieded to stop in on a Sunday night for a glass of wine and oysters at the raw bar. They had a busy weekend and were out of a lot of oysters, halibut, etcm but it was a-ok. We had so much fun with the staff that we changed our plans and stayed for dinner. The servers are lighthearted and attentive. And big ups to Gideon, who cuts product to order from display case and has a dry, affable humor. We tried: - special order Salmon sushimi (fresh, rich, and delicious) - Meaty Ahi spring rolls (generous portions) - Shrimp Shumai (tasty!) - Chow'da (peppery yum) - Fishermans stew - Salad with seared ahi steak and Wasabi/Chevre wantons - Ceasar Salad - tons of white wine by the glass I must reserve the fifth star because the of decor left. The chairs, lighting and layout make it looks more like a country cooking breakfast place. But at least it's not too trendy. Overall, a real treat!

This small restuarant has the closest thing to fresh fish in fort collins. The food is good, the atmosphere is a little different than i expected it to be. The people were very friendly and helped out a lot when i didn't know what to order. The layout of the fresh fish and oysters were very cool, it help make a decisiion on what type of fish i wanted. Everyone should go here at least once, you wont regret it.

I grew up in Alaska and ate seafood on a regular basis. Now that I am in Colorado (one of the furtherest states from decent seafood). I've been here a few times and the service is always phenomonal! One time there my reservation was lost and the owner quickly came out and found a table for my group. The food is usually a good mix of traditional seafood and some interesting and delicous new mixes.

Fresh fish in a landlocked state... Given the circumstances, the restaurant is pretty good. I can't give it more stars because I'm from Boston and Fish doesn't quite compare to seafood restaurants on the coast. The decor wasn't quite what I expected given the price. It was definitely more casual that I thought it would be. The display with the fish and oysters is nice. When I went, it wasn't very crowded and the server introduced the various fish they had in stock. They had a small selection of oysters and they were fairly good/fresh. I wish they had more variety. I ordered some goosepoints as appetizer. yum The entres were fairly good as well. I had the special parrot fish with blue cheese on top of pasta. It came in a bowl, which is kinda odd and a bit hard to get around, but the taste was good. My boyfriend ordered salmon from the menu, and I stole a bite. That was fairly good as well. We also had a bowl of the fisherman's stew. The bowl was a bit small.. and the fish was a bit too stewed for my taste. In conclusion, if you want to eat fish in Fort Collins, this place should be one of the top choices. And if you find yourself in Boston, go to the Atlantic Fish Company. :)

My overall experience at Fish was undoubtedly one of the best encounters I have ever had with a restaurant. From the moment I stepped in, the incredibly friendly staff was perfectly welcoming, and happy to wish me all the best in the new year. Lunch began with delicious bread and roasted shallot butter, which were both exceptional. Fish places an emphasis on sustainably caught (and very fresh) seafood, which gave me a little added peace of mind while perusing the menu. I decided on their seared swordfish special, with a side of potato wedges and brussel sprouts. I was served promptly by a courteous waitress, and everything was still hot and scrumptious. The fish had been cooked to perfection, flaky but still juicy and just the right amount of char where it had been seared. Being a fan of extra-thick cut French fries, their potato wedges were all I could dream of, and even the miniature brussel sprouts were bursting with flavor. My favorite part, however, was the butternut squash chili sauce upon which the fish was served. Creamy without being too rich, slightly sweet from the squash, and with just enough spiciness, it brought the entire dish to a new level of culinary splendor. If I lived closer to Fort Collins, then I could see myself becoming a regular at Fish. The decor, staff, food, and atmosphere in general make it one of those rare restaurants that make you feel at home, albeit a home with a tantalizing assortment of exquisite dishes being prepared with meticulous care. Alas, I will have to settle for stopping in Fort Collins whenever the opportunity presents itself, and when I do Fish will be my first choice for dining.

All i have to say is that this place is NOT all that it is hyped up to be, sadly. I had my hopes up from everything i heard from others, and the fact that it is one of th eonly places in town that is primarily for fish. First off let me say what ever butter it is they give you with the bread is OK..nothing special. they also do not have a specialty drink menu, which was upsetting but they did have my favorite wine. there were also only two people running the place so service was a tad slow, especially to put in our order. the tables are also covered in brown paper so you can write on them with crayons - so good for kids but not really sure why you'd take ur kid here. for an appetizer - all i had my heart set on was their ahi tuna egg rolls, i had heard so much about them and that they were good - and i have to say it was prob the best part of the meal - lightly fried and with cabbage and a good mix of spicy/sweet dipping sauce - the tuna was also divine - i almost wish i had gotten a salad with that on it instead of what i did. my parents got some fried clams - which really were nothing special and i thought a waste. they serve a meager salad with the entree - nothing special. for dinner, i got a special - their grilled swordfish mediterranean....it was slightly undercooked - which iguess is OK as opposed to being overcooked, and came with artichokes, red peppers and a tomoato coulis sauce. the unfortuante thing was that it was not hot and overall i was disappointed in the flavors. my parents got the bass special, with avocado and a corn black bean salsa - they dramatically undercooked the fish to the point of it almost being sushi grade, even though they assured us that they would cook it properly. so overall it was a dissappointment - i had my expectations way too high. i chose fish over jax - but now i am debating whether that was tehe right decision - i think it might not have been. alos, the desserts are highly lacking here so it's not worth staying for dessert - go up to chcolate cafe - wish we had!

A small, modern restaurant, clean and cozy. I had the grilled swordfish, my father the blackened shrimp tacos. Both were excellent. The salad served was great as well with a mild chili oil dressing. The highlight was the key lime pie. It was amazing. Perhaps the best I've had. The waiter was kind of annoying, but the service was good. I would certainly come back.

I asked the guy behind the fish counter to just pick a fish and grill it. Perfectly grilled, good rice, friendly wait staffs. Love it.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is fantastic and great quality. The owner came around to check on us and get feedback. I love that the owner is involved and cares about hearing from the customer. I will be back. The mixed scampi is AMAZING

A very small, yet amazing restaurant tucked away in Old Town Fort Collins. The fish at Fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection. They don't over cook the fish unless you specifically ask for it that way, and their sides and presentations are super. If you are looking for a fresh choice of fish in Fort Collins, I can't think of a better place.

I've heard good things and I just read over all of the reviews and I must say that agree with B.F. I was very disappointed in even the restaurant itself. It was just blah, like a cafeteria. I don't want to get seafood from a cafeteria style restaurant. Let alone the food which was over hyped and nothing to write home about. I will only go back if someone drags me in there, and pays for my meal. I don't like to waste good money for average food.

Went here for lunch at I think the server was new. The food was ok but nothing special. Seems to get a lot of good reviews so my visit might have been a fluke. Even based on my experience would rate this as one of the top seafood restaurants in Fort Collins.

I had dinner there last evening after reading the reviews on this site. I wish I could have agreed with those that gave it a four star or five star rating, but it just wasn't there on this night. Although the bartender/fish monger/sous chef was fun and full of energy, the food, not so much. The Parmesan trout was her recommendation and I was immediately disappointed by the presentation, a lump of something hidden under a white creamy sauce and Parmesan cheese. The trout had very little flavor and the cheese added nothing to this dish. The cole slaw and asparagus were both covered with some creamy white sauce which was hard to identify. The slaw had great flavor so why cover it with cream sauce? I did have the ahi spring roll appetizer which was very good and I should have stopped there. All-in-all I will give it a weak 3.

It's been many years since I have eaten here, in fact it may have been when it first opened. Our meals last evening was simply fantastic. Service was quick, knowledgeable, and very kind. The food was perfectly timed and tasted great from the first bite to the last. We were able to stay as long as we wished and even though it was graduation weekend, Fish was not too busy. This definitely was to our benefit. I wish we still lived in FoCo so that we could go here more often.

IMO, Fish is the best restaurant in Fort Collins. High quality, fresh seafood prepared in creatively delicious ways, along with reasonable prices make this my favorite dinner place. Their specials menu never disappoints, the service is friendly, and, although the menu is unique and almost entirely seafood, Fish is anything but pretentious. Fish has happy hour, too, just in case you need more convincing.

One of the things that annoys me most when ordering trout or salmon at a restaurant is when it is cooked too long. This is definitely not a problem at Fish. The trout I ordered was nice and moist, and I really enjoyed the parmesan coating. I'm a sucker for a good slogan, and I'm a huge fan of their "Fish so fresh someone might get slapped!" slogan. The place is locally owned and has a small-town feel to it with excellent service. I gave it 4 stars because there is a small menu.

Seafood isn't my first choice of dining out, but I do like the health factor of a nice piece of salmon along with top-notch service and atmosphere to keep it interesting. I've been in the area for nearly 14 years and this was my first visit to Fish. Actually, I had never even heard of it and neither had most of my friends. Our server (I think her name was Mattie) was not only bright-eyed and attentive but seemed to know the menu and was comfortable in her job. I ate the salmon over sweet potato hash and it was even better than I anticipated. Price was about $25 for an entree. It was big enough to share but too delicious to give up even a bite!! I'll definitely be returning! I wouldn't take my friends who are hearing impaired because it might be a bit frustrating with the acoustics, but a table for two would be perfect. My hubby saw the cook taking a smoke break out front then back in the kitchen saw him wipe his face with his hand (while he was cooking). I've heard restaraunt kitchens are disgusting and this fits the bill! Maybe the owner will read this and take appropriate action.

We were on our way back from the Cheyenne Rodeo last night and looked up this restaurant on Yelp for a place for dinner. First off, the place is pretty unassuming but has very friendly staff. We were recommended by our waiter to start with the Ahi Tuna Rolls. $16 for a full portion, definitely on the pricier side. We were not dissapointed. Its was 2 large rolls cut into half and served with 3 fabulous sauces. A thick sweet sauce, wasabi cream sauce and a chili sauce. They were generous with the tuna stuffing. For our main course, I had the special. Stuffed whole trout with local farm mushrooms with a red pepper goat cheese mousse. Very good. Fish tasted fresh and well seasoned. This came with a side of rice and mixed squash saute with a marinara sauce. I told my husband that I would have preferred the vege's plainly roasted as the taste of the rosemary in the sauce did overwhelmed my fish. It was still great and I enjoyed my dish. My husband has BBQed shrimp and grits. The BBQ sauce was sweet and spicy. The grits were creamy and went well with the shrimp. All in all, we had a fantastic meal. They have half off glasses of wine and a discount for bottles during Happy Hour. Will definitely stop by again if I am ever in the same area. Dinner cost $100 with tip included. Definitely not cheap but you get what you pay for, Fresh Fish!

Quick review: good food, but $$$$. One of these places that thinks bare walls and loud atmosphere are good things. Hard to hear friends across the table.

Great food and a nice atmosphere. Don't know why it took us so long to try it. One thing; it's listed as a two dollar sign priced restaurant and I think it's probably closer to three dollar signs. We spent around $100 for two of us.

I had a few people tell me that I had to try Fish. It was pretty good, but not really for the price. It was expensive, the service wasn't impressive in any way (i.e., not very attentive and dressed very casually for the prices on the menu). Our server described a dish as not very spicy. One of our party ordered it and could barely eat it because it was SO spicy. This is Fort Collins people... When someone in Fort Collins describes something AS spicy, you should assume it's mild. I'm not sure if I would go back; I feel like I should give it another chance based on word of mouth, but... it's not cheap.

So glad to have found this place on a recent trip. If you don't like fresh fish or seafood then you won't like this place. We were lucky to stumble in during happy hour when oysters were $1 and wines were half price. I has the soft shell crab with the most decadent red curry and my hubby has the sesame crusted salmon. Both were plate licking delicous! Our waiter Dirk was very knowledgable and friendly. Will definitley miss this place back home in CA.

Well...service sucked, the food was bleh for the price (I don't even remember what we ordered). I'm sure we'll come back at some point, but alas the inland is destined to be cursed with any bad/old seafood restaurants. Coming from San Diego this is a very hard fact to face. But then I go snowboarding, camping, hiking, etc and forget about it:)
